Argentina's National Anthem

Fun Facts are back...after a couple of days off (and one day of someone forgetting their fact!)...we have returned with more...

First, Jena Roberts, brought us news of the national anthem of Argentina. Written in 1813 by Vincente Lopez y Planes with music by Blas Parera..."Argentina"...was adopted in 1813 as the national anthem. Jena gets bonus points for bringing a sample of the tune to us on her phone!

Second, Katie Brower, told us about Hernan Crespo, the EXPENSIVE goal-scoring great. Crespo was sold for as much as 86 million dollars at the height of his great career. Crespo is currently playing for Inter Milan in Italy. He was born in Florida, Argentina. He debuted for River Plate in 1993. After helping them to a couple of championships in the Primera Division as well as a Copa Libertadores title, he moved to Italy where he starred for Parma and Lazio. He spent two years in England with Chelsea before going back to Italy.

Crespo has played in 3 World Cups (1998, 2002, 2006) for Argentina as well as winning a silver medal in the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta.
