U.S. Women's Team Preview

The U.S. Women's Team defeated Mexico yesterday at the University of San Diego's Torero Stadium 3-0. This match was their first domestic match of 2010 and we couldn't be more excited to host the second one this Wednesday here in Salt Lake! The U.S. will re-match against Mexico at Rio Tinto Stadium here in Sandy, Utah. It is very difficult to meet the same opponent twice in a row and we are all awaiting an exciting battle with some of the top female soccer players in the world!

Amy Rodriguez, Shannon Boxx, and Lauren Cheney were the 3 goal scorers for our nation's team yesterday. These are three players that promise to be highlights of Wednesday's game as well. Rodriguez notched her 7th international goal yesterday afternoon and we are excited to see her keep producing! Boxx is no rookie to international play as yesterday was notch 21 in her international scoring belt. Cheney is a young player but she had no trouble finding the net showing off her timing and speed in the box. Kristine Lilly became the most capped international player in soccer history yesterday, tallying her 343rd international cap in San Diego; Lilly also became the first player in U.S. history to play for her nation in 4 different decades.

Mexico also boasts great talent on the field possessing incredibly tough defenders, a skilled midfield, and a dangerous font line...wednesday's game is sure to be a competitive one. The teams are arriving here in Utah this evening- stay tuned for more details and pictures!
