Well, here we are...5 days until our Friday afternoon departure.
Lots to do and lots to get ready. Packing and last minute shopping are officially under way!
Some stuff to bring and pointers the players have learned over the last few days:
1. Cell Phone
International calling is expensive. We have to check with our cell service providers to see what the cost is to include international calling into our plan for the week. The other option is to text back home with the hotel phone and room numbers...or get the old stand-by...phone cards!
2. Sunny Clothing
Break out the swim wear...the weather is supposed to be in the 70's!!
3. Money
They do have ATM's in South America!! Both Argentina and Uruguay use currency called peso's...although their value to the American dollar is much different (Argentina peso is about 3 per $1....Uruguay peso is about 21 per $1)...However the big cities we will be mostly staying in - Buenos Aires and Montivideo - take a lot of American money as well.
4. Electricity
Converters!!! 220V to 110V...or else no iPod, phone, computer, or hair dryer!
5. Passport
OF COURSE!
6. Translators
Well, the English-Spanish dictionary will come in handy.
Otherwise, just stay near Paola Marsenaro or Amanda Sanchez...the Spanish speakers on our team...Ryan Robinson one of our assistant coaches...is a fluent speaker...and Aaron Roderick...husband of assistant coach Laurel Roderick...served his LDS mission in Columbia and will come in handy in this area as well!
Anything else we need to bring?
